Every year in Britain, the world’s most competitive drone and helicopter competition organized by Institution of Mechanical Engineers, and this year the students of the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) students make their latest helicopter drone and won first prize.
In this competition, the NUST Airworks team had developed fully electric helicopter, which was also the only helicopter among the competitors while other students presented static (fixed-wing) small aircraft and drones.
The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) is an international organization that is playing a key role in research and development in this sector. Its president’s office is located in London. Many countries have regular members called a Country Chapter.
For the past few years, the organization is launching non-human aircraft or in the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) competition. Competitors include students of universities and institutions around the world and offer their creations.
In UAS 2019, the NUST AirWorks Team Beta was entitled to the first prize, which is certainly a great honor for Pakistan, while two groups of the Queen’s University Belfast won second and third positions.
In addition, other 32 universities and research institutes offered their drone. These countries include the UK, Canada, Netherlands, and others. The two teams from NUST University were in competition, including Alpha and Beta. However, Ghulam Ishaq Khan and Sufa University teams were also in competition.
